Ryan Lawless founded Renegade in 2021 with the singular focus to create a best-in-class private equity firm that acquires and redevelops commercial real estate. In his role as Managing Principal, Ryan directly oversees acquisitions, investor relations, and governs the overall strategic direction of the company. At Renegade, Ryan has led over $350m in transactions and oversees a portfolio worth in excess of $100m today.
A truly entrepreneurial story, Ryan’s real estate career started humbly in 2011 with just $10,000 in bartending money and a single transaction totaling $35,000. The initial thesis focused on acquiring distressed single-family properties in Denver’s urban neighborhoods. Residential quickly transitioned to commercial where, over 7 years and under various entities and partnerships, Ryan went on to acquire over $100m of apartments, first in Colorado and then across the country. In 2020, Ryan expanded into development where he is a partner on Frameline, a 78-unit five-story project in Denver’s 9th & Co neighborhood.
Ryan is an extremely dedicated and driven individual whose mission is to create the largest positive impact possible. Born and raised in New Jersey, Ryan’s passion for real estate was developed through a college mentorship with a prominent investor largely responsible for reshaping two coastal NJ cities in Asbury Park and Atlantic City. Ryan graduated from Monmouth University’s Leon Hess Business School where he earned a BA in Real Estate and founded the Men’s Club Lacrosse Team, now a Division I team and proud member of the MAAC Conference. Prior to his career in real estate, Ryan spent over 7 years in the music industry where he had an opportunity to live and travel across the country. Outside of work, Ryan serves on the Associate Board of ACE Scholarships, a non-profit that provides better educational opportunities for underprivileged youth throughout the US. Ryan enjoys working out, spending time with his family, and exploring new places.
